While the rest of the mobile industry is focusing on making their products bigger in terms of the screen and thinner in terms of the body, there are those who prefer the miniature route. Take for example the Zanco tiny T1, which is the smallest fully functional cellphone in the world. It’s only a little over an inch in size but it’s got some advantages.
As PhoneArena notes, most smartphone companies are racing to have the honor of having the biggest mobile device without necessarily crossing over to tablet territory. This appears to be a reflection of the demands of the consumers, however, who seem to want bigger screens on their phones to have more entertainment or convenience.
With the Zanco tiny T1, however, the opposite is the goal. The company responsible for the device want to create the smallest cellular phone in the industry while still retaining many of the things that make a phone useful.
For starters, the T1 can still make calls or send SMS text messages. However, it can only connect to 2G networks. As expected, the screen is also incredibly small, which is basically a 0.49-inch OLED display. The resolution is also only at 64 x 32.
On the other hand, the battery can last for up to three days in just one charge, despite the fact that it’s only a miniature 200 mAh pack. Then again, this should only be expected since the device doesn’t feature power-hungry background processes that a smartphone would.
Having pointed all that out, many might wonder what the point of such a device might be. As Business Insider reports, this would be the cuteness factor.
The T1 is an adorable little device. It almost looks like a child’s toy and yet it’s fully functional. People likely won’t be able to appreciate just how much unadulterated joy the phone can bring unless they hold it in their hands.
