XRP Binance Scarcity Index Hits 20-Month Low

XRP’s Binance Scarcity Index has fallen to -0.94, its lowest level since January 2025, indicating that more XRP tokens are readily available for trading on the world’s largest crypto exchange.

The latest reading represents a significant reversal from July, when the XRP Binance Scarcity Index climbed to 0.77, its highest point in roughly two years. The sharp decline suggests that XRP’s available trading supply on Binance has increased considerably in recent months.

The scarcity index measures how scarce XRP is on Binance compared with historical levels. A positive or rising reading generally indicates fewer tokens are immediately available for trading, potentially reducing sell-side pressure. A negative reading signals greater availability, which could increase the amount of XRP that can potentially enter the market.

CryptoQuant data shows that Binance’s overall XRP reserves have declined by approximately 20% since November 2024. However, the XRP remaining on the exchange appears to be more actively available for trading rather than being held in inactive or cold-storage wallets.

Analysts caution that greater XRP availability does not necessarily mean investors are selling. Increased exchange liquidity can raise the risk of future selling pressure, but it may also result from routine market-making activity or changes in how existing XRP reserves are managed.

Despite the bearish shift in the scarcity indicator, XRP price has remained relatively resilient. The cryptocurrency is trading near $1.55, gaining about 3.4% over the past 24 hours. XRP has also risen roughly 10% over the past month and remains more than 46% higher over the past year.

Meanwhile, prediction-market traders have become less optimistic about XRP reaching a new all-time high before the end of 2026. Polymarket odds for XRP setting a record by December 31 have dropped to around 6%.

Traders are now likely to monitor Binance XRP reserves, exchange inflows and other on-chain indicators for evidence of actual distribution. While increased exchange supply can precede selling pressure, the scarcity index alone does not determine XRP’s future price direction.
