The White House reaffirmed its support for border czar Tom Homan on Monday following media reports alleging he accepted a $50,000 payment during a federal bribery sting. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt dismissed the accusations, saying President Donald Trump stands firmly behind Homan, insisting he committed no wrongdoing.
Reports from Reuters and other outlets claimed that in 2023, Homan accepted a bag of cash from an undercover FBI agent during a Justice Department investigation. According to anonymous sources, the payment was allegedly tied to promises of immigration-related contracts if Homan secured a role in the Trump administration. The investigation has since been closed.
Leavitt stressed that federal prosecutors and FBI officials found no evidence of criminal activity. “The White House and the president stand by Tom Homan 100% because he did absolutely nothing wrong,” she said during a press briefing.
Homan himself addressed the controversy during an appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. He firmly rejected the bribery claims, stating, “I did nothing criminal. I’m glad the FBI and DOJ came out and said nothing illegal happened, no criminal activity.”
The former ICE director has been a staunch supporter of Trump’s immigration policies and continues to play a central role in shaping border security strategies. Despite the allegations, the administration emphasized its confidence in his integrity and leadership.
The reports have sparked political debate, but with federal authorities confirming no charges, the White House aims to shift focus back to immigration priorities. Homan’s denial and the administration’s backing highlight the Trump team’s effort to maintain credibility amid scrutiny.
