Many have criticized President Donald Trump’s efforts in handling the global pandemic that was the coronavirus. Now, it was announced that members of the cabinet and Trump administration are to attend the annual conservatives conference or CPAC over the weekend.
Politicalflare reports that Trump and many members of the administration will be attended the annual CPAC or Conservative Political Action Conference that will be held this week, from the 26th of February to the 29th of February. More popularly referred to as “Trump-PAC” where many Trump supporters gather to speak out against the opposition, the Democrats along with other supposed enemies of the administration. This follows the rather confusing response to the rise of the coronavirus, with over a dozen people in the United States being infected with the disease.
Although they made it appear that the administration is putting up a united front in combatting the global pandemic, Trump along with his top officials will be attending the biggest annual conference for conservatives rather than be more preoccupied with keeping the virus under control within the country. Along with Trump, Vice President Mike Pence will be attending as well, including Ivanka Trump, Kellyanne Conway, Alex Azar, Eric D. Hargan, Chad Wolf, Ken Cuccinelli, Mike Pompeo, David Bernhardt, Robert Wilkie, Gene Scalia, Elaine Chao, Mick Mulvaney, Russ Vought, Dan Brouillette, Richard Grenell, Betsy DeVos, and Andrew Wheeler. In true Trump fashion, the conference will undoubtedly talk about his campaign and plans for reelection apart from throwing insults at his Democrat enemies and Senator Mitt Romney.
On the other end, Vanity Fair reveals that some conservatives who are against Trump took over have organized their own conference. The meeting will be called the Summit of Principled Conservatism, and among those guests will be Republican strategist Rick Wilson, who is now a staunch critic of Trump’s as well as Bill Kristol, Amanda Carpenter and many other conservatives. Among the topic of discussion during this summit, organized by Heath Mayo, was whether or not they should stay within the GOP or form their own movement instead.
Some people have already agreed to the option of starting their own movement, such as Harvard Law Professor Adrian Vermeule, who tweeted a photo from the gathering and said “The very first group for the camps.”
