Best-selling author George R.R. Martin is still very secretive about the launch of “The Winds of Winter.” So eager book fans all have for now are clues and speculations that point to a possible release in 2019.
The most recent clue that fans have about the “The Winds of Winter” launch came from a Chinese translator who reportedly worked on other “A Song of Ice and Fire” books, according to WinterIsComing.net. The said translator added to the speculation that “The Winds of Winter” “is very likely” coming out next year. The translator’s statement has since gone viral on social media and was cited in several reports online.
However, it was clarified that the 2019 release date mentioned regarding “The Winds of Winter” should not be taken as official word. Meanwhile, it is already a fact that the book in question will not be launched this year, as previously confirmed by Martin himself.
Many were expecting that more good news about “The Winds of Winter” will be arriving this year since prior blogs from Martin hinted that he was making progress in finishing the book. And when he confirmed that the book will not make it in 2018, fans already had several clues so as to believe that 2019 could be their lucky year.
The entire “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga is known for having long gaps in between each book’s release. However, the wait for “The Winds of Winter” hit its seven-year mark last July, making it the longest wait so far in Martin’s phenomenal book series.
Unfortunately, many fans have also gone disappointed for not having “The Winds of Winter” before “Game of Thrones” season 7 aired last year, fearing that the TV series would spoil the remainder of the book saga. But Martin himself recently assured that this is not the case. In an event last month, Martin confirmed that several deaths that occurred on the show are actually “never” happening in the books.
