It will be a homecoming of sorts in the final season of “The Vampire Diaries.”
Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert in the series, basically confirmed her involvement in the show’s finale after sharing a “final goodbye” to her 24.1 million followers, Daily Mail reported.
The actress shared her feelings about filming her final scenes with “The Vampire Diaries” and said, “Coming back for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears of joy and bittersweet endings. It feels like the beautiful closure we all needed, myself included, and I couldn't have been happier to come home to be with my TVD set family and friends. I grew up on this show and am eternally grateful for all the opportunities it has given me. I feel the fans family will also be happy with the shows conclusion when they tune in to watch the last episode air in a few short weeks. From the bottom of my heart I send you my biggest thanks for the countless years of implicit dedication, passion, support, and undying love from all the fans that have stuck with us on this truly amazing and beautiful journey.”
Aside from Dobrev, Seventeen said her TV brother, former series regular Stephen R. McQueen, is due to show up as well. The actor, whose last scene as Elena’s brother Jeremy was saying goodbye to her sister prior to her indefinite sleep in Season 6, may as well be Elena’s welcome party once she wakes up.
Another shocking appearance in the finale would be Michael Malarkey, who’s character Enzo met an untimely death recently when Stefan (Paul Wesley) ripped out his heart. Malarkey teased TVLine about an Enzo-Bonnie (Kat Graham) reunion, but it might not be in the flesh.
Meanwhile, a teaser for the February 17 episode showed Season 6 villain Kai Parker (Chris Wood) also returning to the series. However, the synopsis for the episode hinted that it could not be because Kai wanted to rouse Elena from sleep, but to cause another trouble for our favorite characters.
“Damon and Alaric come face to face with an old enemy after they obtain a weapon that may be able to destroy Cade,” the synopsis read.
“The Vampire Diaries” Season finale will air on March 10 on The CW.
