The Undertaker Retires At WWE’s “Wrestlemania 33 After Defeat, Roman Reigns Shares Nice Words About Former Champion

Legendary wrestler The Undertaker appears to have made his final career bow at “Wrestlemania 33,” shocking fans worldwide. Following his defeat from Roman Reigns, Mark Calaway, took a moment to soak everything in a somber blue light, placed his familiar hat and gloves in the center of the ring, and walked off the ramp, the Bleacher Report said. Already suffering a damaged hip, Calaway descended from a hydraulic platform, with the entire Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida bearing witness to his final walk. The Sun noted that Calaway even broke character and proceeded to hug his wife, Michelle McCool.

Calaway as The Undertaker has a 21-winning streak in the WWE, and suffered one other defeat apart from Reigns, Complex said. Brock Lesnar first defeated The Undertaker in “Wrestlemania XXX,” but he proceeded to take in more matches until his final career face-off with Reigns.

The Undertaker has yet to make a statement from his match with Reigns. However, Reigns echoed what many were feeling from the match. He said in an interview post-match, “it’s bittersweet. It almost feels like a loss, you know what I mean? Because, I’ve said this for the past three or four weeks, I’ve got nothing but respect for the Undertaker. If you’ve been a part of this business, and you know, everybody’s got respect for that man. But at the end of the day you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”

“Typically, by the time I’m connecting with Superman punches and I hit a spear, it’s done. Anything after that, it feels like torture. But that’s the type of competitor the Dead Man is. He won’t give up. He doesn’t know when to quit. That’s not in his programming. So I had to beat it into him. So that’s what I had to do,” he added.
