“The Last of Us Part 2” still doesn’t have a release date yet although the general consensus is agreeing that it may come out in February next year. This speculation came from reliable game journalist Jason Schreier after news broke out that “Death Stranding” pushed the release date of the sequel to 2020.
There’s a lot of reasons why the gaming community is excited about “The Last of Us Part 2.” Its gameplay appears immersive, and the AI is apparently going to be eerily intelligent.
But similar to the predecessor of “The Last of Us Part 2,” the story of the game is what gamers are really looking forward to. Ashley Johnson, the voice actress of Ellie, already hinted that the story would be an emotional rollercoaster.
Troy Baker’s comment about The Last of Us Part 2
Now, Troy Baker – the guy voicing Joel – has backed up Johnson’s claim. Baker was present during the Manchester Comic-Con and gave some hint about “The Last of Us Part 2.”
“There is nothing about this game, nor the revealing thereof, that has not been one hundred percent carefully crafted and methodically curated. All I can tell you is that, as much as you’re clamoring for [The Last of Us Part 2], you’re not ready,” Baker said.
Obviously, the relationship of Joel and Ellie will take center stage yet again, but this time, Ellie will be the playable character. “The Last of Us Part 2” appears to have been written with a revenge plot, possibly due to Dina dying. Dina, of course, is the girl we saw kissing Ellie during a scene in one of the trailers.
The Last of Us Part 2 release date could be announced next month
Character development is also another aspect that fans should really focus on, especially for those who are fascinated with the storytelling medium that video games are employing. Indeed, co-director Kurt Margenau said that despite Ellie being a good person, she’s going to be making some pretty brutal decision in “The Last of Us Part 2,” which is unsurprising given the world she’s in, Newsweek reported.
As for when Naughty Dog might announce the release date of the sequel, it could come out in September. The assumption is rooted in the fact that Outbreak Day occurred during this month. Sony could be looking to conduct its next State of Play in September, especially if the company is planning on showcasing “The Last of Us Part 2” in the event.
