‘The Flash’ is set to feature another Justice League member to appear alongside Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. It was reported that Ray Fisher’s Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg will be making an appearance in the upcoming film. Meanwhile, Miller admitted that he expects to meet his television counterpart Grant Gustin soon.
According to The Independent, Miller’s Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash is set to reunite with Justice League co-member Cyborg in director Rick Famuyiwa’s upcoming standalone superhero film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The Flash and Cyborg were both introduced on the big screen in Zack Snyder’s critically panned ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ together with Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The film set the stage for Snyder’s upcoming superhero team-up film ‘Justice League’, which will feature the return of Miller as the Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
It was then revealed that Cyborg will be making an appearance in one way or another in Miller’s standalone film but it remains unknown whether he will only be making a cameo or if he will play a key role in the film.
The move follows DC’s attempts at creating a solid fictional universe, wherein multiple characters crossover to other movies within the franchise. According to Melty, Fisher’s Cyborg is also set to get a standalone film of his own sometime in the year 2020.
Miller expressed his enthusiasm over reprising his role as Barry Allen during an interview with MTV. He said, “It’s a little intense for me because I get goosebumps just thinking about it.”
He continued, “I think there’s just an intention to make something extremely fun and something superhuman and something deeply human… It’s the thing we’re all trying to do, but I think Rick’s mind and his heart are in an excellent place, and his expertise as a filmmaker, as evidenced by Dope, all come together as very exciting factors to me.”
Kiersey Clemons of ‘Dope’ fame is joining Miller in the new cast as Iris West, Barry Allen’s friend and future love interest. Although Miller stayed mum on further details on Clemon’s character, he gushed, “Kiersey is amazing… I had the opportunity to read with her and do some explorative acting in our chemistry read ... the results of these experiments clearly were positive. I’m just deeply excited about what these people carry in their hearts, and I’m excited about the radical intention that everybody seems to be bringing to the genesis chamber of this film.”
He also admitted that although he is yet to meet his television counterpart Grant Gustin, he is optimistic that they would both cross paths in the future. He said, “He’s a boss… I can’t wait to see him, eye to eye, adrift in the Speed Force — our eyes will lock and, in that moment, we will both know the truth. What truth? I dare not say.”
Gustin plays Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash on The CW’s action-adventure and fantasy series ‘The Flash’.
‘The Flash’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Seth Grahame-Smith. It is produced by Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Richard Suckle. It scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 16, 2018.
