Bethesda unveiled so many exciting titles in last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) with one particular evergreen title standing out from the presentation. “The Elder Scrolls 6” will be added to the franchise, and it has been confirmed to be on Bethesda's production line.
The 30-plus second teaser simply showed the camera moving forward through terrain and clouds until a break in the horizon reveals a landscape and the title is spelled out “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
While traditionally, “The Elder Scrolls” games make use of sub-titles such as “Skyrim,” “Oblivion,” and “Morrowind” to distinguish each release in the series, the trailer and the E3 reveal for “The Elder Scrolls 6” did not include an official sub-title for the game. This may be in line with Bethesda director Todd Howard's statement that “The Elders Scrolls 6” is still in the early stages of development and that other Bethesda projects such as their new sci-fi, “Starfield,” is more likely to be released first before the fantasy series that fans are already familiar with.
With what little information that can be gleaned from the trailer, fans have been speculating on where the sixth installment of “The Elder Scrolls” series will take place. A Reddit thread has fans trying to figure out whether the landscape featured in the trailer is the region of High Rock, Hammerfell, or somewhere in between. Fans are eliminating locations that have been featured in previous games.
While everything discussed in such threads are entirely speculation, there is enough lore in “The Elder Scrolls” background for fans to create their own compelling arguments for themselves.
The action-roleplaying series “The Elder Scrolls” is a highly successful 24-year old franchise tracing its roots to the 1994 title “The Elder Scrolls: Arena.” The series gained popularity with its fourth installment, “The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind,” released in 2002. “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim,” originally released in 2011, along with its many re-release versions, and “The Elder Scrolls Online” released in 2014, are the latest entries to the series.
