“The Blacklist” season 6 will premiere in barely a couple of weeks. Teasers are now out confirming that Liz (Megan Boone) and Jennifer (Fiona Dourif) will not waste any time and immediately starts investigating on the fake Raymond Reddington (James Spader).
To learn about fake Red’s motives and what happened to their real father, Liz and Jennifer have to investigate what transpired in all those years that Red has been in their lives. So at the beginning of “The Blacklist” season 6, they are going back to the night when their real father died in the fire.
It is important to note that this is the very first time Liz will be working with Jennifer. With Liz’s previous experiences, including the fact that her father figure is an imposter, do not make trusting people easier for her. And the same rule extends to her half-sister despite their major goal in “The Blacklist” season 6.
“Jennifer was just short of living in hiding in a witness protection program. Liz was becoming a law enforcement agent. They have different mothers. But they do share Raymond Reddington as a father. They both believed that this man was Raymond Reddington. There’s this betrayal that has bonded them, these two very different people,” showrunner Jon Bokenkamp told TVLine about “The Blacklist” season 6.
The investigation on fake Red will be a running storyline throughout “The Blacklist” season 6 and so are Liz and Jennifer’s disagreements. These women grew up in different settings and worked on very different circumstances. This means how they approach the investigation will not always be in sync.
Meanwhile, the second part of “The Blacklist” season 6 premiere will escalate very quickly. As previously reported, fans will finally see Red in a completely unexpected environment. He is going to jail and this arc appears to begin in the second half of the premiere event.
The first segment of “The Blacklist” season 6 premieres on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. It will have its encore the following day, during the show’s regular Friday 9 p.m. time slot, to be followed by the second episode featuring Red’s imprisonment.
