Liz (Megan Boone) and her half-sister Jennifer (Fiona Dourif) have been conducting a covert investigation on their fake father Reddington (James Spader). But is it possible that Red is already closing on what Liz has been planning at this early point in “The Blacklist” season 6?
Liz and Red possibly have the most complicated father-and-daughter relationship right now on TV. Earlier in “The Blacklist” season 6, Liz pointed the police exactly where her “father” was and had him arrested. Upon arriving in federal prison, Red told Liz he is certain someone from their inner circle betrayed him and the police did not find him by chance. He then tasked Liz to find out who the snitch was.
The promo video for “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 6 is giving emphasis on a certain phone recording that could be Red’s ticket to catching Liz. The audio file contains the 911 call that got him arrested, which will definitely confirm it was Liz who betrayed him.
Reddit user u/jayt00212 suggested that Red already knows Liz got him arrested — even without the audio recording. The fan pointed out that it was bizarre for Red to go out of his way to contact Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) when it would have been much easier to send a message through Liz. Instead of asking her to reach out to Dembe, Red literally chose a rat as a messenger.
Meanwhile, the teasers for the upcoming episodes of “The Blacklist” season 6 confirm that Red’s will be staying at the federal prison for a longer period. Red decided to defend himself in court and, in episode 6, he will request to get a psychiatric evaluation which will bring him to a federal medical institution. In the next installment, Glenn (Clark Middleton) joins Red and Dembe to make sure they fill out the jury with members who are in their favor. New episodes air every Friday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
