“The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3 will present Reddington (James Spader) in a completely different light. He has decided to fire his attorney and, instead, represent himself in the court. Knowing his personality, this is shaping up to be an interesting spectacle.

To those who have not yet seen the two-part premiere of the series earlier this month, Red ended up in jail. Police spotted him while innocently grabbing some pretzels right after averting a terror attempt in a United Nations facility. And, now, the teasers confirm that Red would prefer to take control of his defense in “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3.

By the looks of it in a sneak peek video for “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3, the judge already considers Red the “devil.” To which he replies, “Shouldn’t judges, at least, pretend to be impartial?”

While there is no question that Red is full of wits and solid comebacks for anyone he deals with, Cooper (Harry Lennix) could also dictate how Red’s case would proceed in “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3. In the same promo video, the judge orders the FBI Assistant Director for the Counterterrorism Division to secure a copy of Red’s deal with the government as approved by Cooper’s bosses.

Unfortunately, it also does not look good for Cooper as well. The synopsis for “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3 says the federal official’s “integrity is tested with a difficult choice.” Add to the equation the fact that Red remains in prison in episode 4, there is a possibility that Cooper might not deliver the documents that could set Reddington free.

Who Betrayed Red?

If anyone betrays Red, it comes with a price.

Meanwhile, the work for Red’s team continues in “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3. Liz (Megan Boone) leads the task force to track down “a notorious underground biohacker” presumably to stop an impending bioterror attack.

The show writers and producers did not waste much time in revealing that it was Liz who had Red arrested. While Red’s conversation with her seemed like he was already suspecting Liz, showrunner Jon Bokenkamp told TVLine, “I think it’s best to be completely straight with you: He doesn’t know.” “The Blacklist” season 6 episode 3 will air on Friday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
