The plot for “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13 will present a very significant development in the collaborative work of Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons). However, it takes an unexpected twist when Sheldon suddenly needs to choose between the importance of his lifelong dream and his wife.
The title for “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13, “The Confirmation Polarization,” is very telling of Sheldon’s upcoming dilemma. He finally meets two physicists, Dr. Pemberton (Sean Astin) and Dr. Campbell (Kal Penn), who can prove Sheldon and Amy’s super asymmetry theory.
Sheldon meets with the two physicists in “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13 and they discuss the chance of winning a Nobel prize for the super asymmetry paper. However, there is one major problem. The physicists from Chicago wants to discredit Amy’s contributions and not include her in the prestigious recognition.
While Sheldon seemingly walks out of their meeting, other scenes in “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13 preview shows he is quite struggling to make a decision. During the meeting, he tells Pemberton and Campbell he hopes he is not “the kind of man who would sell out his partner for the chance of winning a Nobel prize.” He also tells Penny (Kaley Cuoco) that getting that level of recognition has been his dream.
As fans know, Amy and Sheldon have started working on their super asymmetry theory starting on their actual wedding day. There have been many ups and downs since then. At one point, they thought they had everything all wrong until they found a new way to look at it continued working. So despite the comedic banters in “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13, it is somewhat a seriously major decision to make for Sheldon.

It is also appropriate that a development this huge happens when the show is, technically, entering the second half of its final installment. “The Big Bang Theory” season 12 episode 13 will air on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
