Tesla has launched a new bus line connecting its Giga Berlin factory with surrounding areas. The service, operating six times daily, provides employees with an alternative, Tesla-funded transportation option. This initiative follows the introduction of Tesla’s all-electric train for Giga Berlin workers earlier this year.
Tesla Launches New Bus Service for Giga Berlin Employees, Offering Six Daily Commute Routes
Tesla has introduced a new bus service for Giga Berlin employees in Germany. This service, among several others, was developed to provide employees with an alternative means of transportation to work.
This summer, Teslarati published an article about Tesla's all-electric train in Germany. The train introduced a novel method for individuals to commute to and from work without operating their vehicles.
Additionally, there is a bicycle route that would enable employees to arrive at their workplace without delay. Nevertheless, Tesla has implemented an additional mode of transportation for its personnel to access Giga Berlin: a transit bus.
The new bus line commenced operations on Monday, connecting the Tesla factories in Grünheide, Fürstenwalde, Hangelsberg, and Erkner.
The initial line operates six times daily, commencing at 5 a.m. local time. This is sufficient to transport employees to work and then back home for three shifts.
According to rbb24, the entire process requires 44 minutes. Although the bus line is "primarily intended" for employee use, the public can also use it.
Most individuals anticipate that local authorities will construct the new bus; however, this is different. Tesla advocated for establishing the line, and the Oder-Spree district asserts that Tesla provided funding for the new bus line.
A new line was established just months after the all-electric Giga Train began operation.
Tesla Introduces Free Shuttle Service to Giga Berlin, Transporting 4,500 Employees Daily
As remembered in the August report, Tesla's train at Giga Berlin will transport approximately 4,500 employees to work daily and will travel its route nearly 60 times daily.
Tesla announced this week that it will implement a shuttle service linked to the public railway network. The service will operate between Erkner Train Station and the Giga Berlin property, providing employees and citizens with a public transportation alternative.
According to rbb24, the shuttle will transport "over 1,500 employees directly to the factory at the change of shift alone" and will operate nearly 60 times daily between the two locations.
Based on the three-eight-hour schedules, this would imply that 4,500 individuals would be required to report to work each day.
Tesla stated that the train is provided at no cost and is designed to supplant the current bus shuttle service between Erkner and the factory. It was authorized for operation in February and will commence on September 4.
In January 2022, Tesla acquired an existing train track from regional railway group DRE to initiate the construction of a commuter train from Erkner to the factory.
The organization sought to establish a secure, efficient, and convenient method for its personnel to commute to work. In addition, the automaker collaborated with the District Administration of the Oder-Spree to construct a cycle path that is nearly 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) in length and connects Erkner and the factory property.
Tesla Giga Berlin has been operational since March 2022 and employs approximately 11,000 individuals. The Model Y all-electric crossover is manufactured at the factory, which also houses Tesla's most sophisticated paint factory. This facility is capable of applying exclusive hues that are currently being distributed throughout the Eastern Hemisphere.
