Shawn Levy, the director of “Deadpool 3,” has responded to claims that pop superstar Taylor Swift may play a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.
Will Taylor Swift Portray Dazzler In ‘Deadpool 3’?
The Wrap asked the filmmaker if there is truth about the speculations that Taylor might be playing the mutant hero and X-men member named Dazzler. For starters, the Taylor Swift as Dazzler speculations arose when the singer's face was utilized for the album cover of the musical mutant in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Shawn was previously seen with Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and the “All Too Well” hitmaker during a football game, feeding the speculations. The director did not directly address the rumors and stated that fans will have to wait and see.
“They sure are loud. I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see,” Shawn said of the ongoing reports about Taylor joining the MCU sequel.
Who Will Star In ‘Deadpool 3’?
“Deadpool 3” will reunite actor Ryan Reynolds with Shawn Levy, who has signed on to direct the long-awaited feature. Other stars confirmed to appear in the upcoming third installment include Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.
What Should Fans Expect From ‘Deadpool 3’?
Hugh Jackson is finally coming out of superhero retirement after his performance in the 2017 movie Logan to reprise his legendary role as Wolverine in “Deadpool 3.” Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, both newbies to Marvel, will also appear in the film.
It is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2024, but the SAG-AFTRA strike might disrupt that. Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells adapted the script from an earlier draft by the Molyneux sisters -- Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin.
The first two films before “Deadpool 3” were both box office blockbusters, grossing over $1.5 billion worldwide. Both were written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with Tim Miller directing the first and David Leitch directing the second installment.
