“Stranger Things” season 4 was confirmed to return just a few months after it was dropped by Netflix in July 2019. Its finale left many viewers devastated as one of the major characters, sheriff Jim Hopper, the chief of police in Hawkins, Indiana, has vanished and believed to have died.

Theories on Hopper and his confirmed comeback

Hopper’s fate When season 3 ended, the viewers voiced out their wish for Hopper to return. They have expressed their opinions on various online forums and social media platforms, and most say that he can’t die and should be back somehow.

They even gave ideas on scenarios that will allow Hopper to return in “Stranger Things” season 4, such as - the machine forced him to travel through teleportation, but his location is unknown. Others pointed out that he could really be alive because when the machine that closed the opening to the Upside Down exploded, there was no trace of Hopper.

They said that there should be at least a piece of clothing or perhaps, parts of his body left in the scene - but there was none. With the theories for “Stranger Things” season 4 coming out, it gets even more convincing that Hopper may really be alive.

Finally, Hopper’s fate has been revealed when Netflix dropped the series’ very first teaser that also affirmed its official renewal. The clip showed David Harbour, who plays Hopper alive, which also proved that some of the fans’ guessed correctly. But then, it seems he is not in the best situation as he appeared to be imprisoned in Russia.

“Stranger Things” season 4 will definitely reveal what exactly happened to Hopper after the machine blew up in the basement of Starcourt Mall. How did he end up in a “snowy wasteland” after disappearing without a trace?

David Harbour dropped major spoilers

Harbour was a guest at the recent Liverpool ComiCon that took place in early March. He made fans happy and excited after he revealed big spoilers for “Stranger Things” season 4. Firstly, he said that it will feature Hopper’s backstory that would show he had a sad life back then.

"I'm so excited about revealing this aspect of the character,” he said. “It's one of the things that I've known since the first frame of the first shot, and we haven't expressed it yet.”

Meanwhile, “Stranger Things” season 4 already started filming but they have to suspend it because of the coronavirus outbreak. It is not yet certain when the cast and crew can resume their work.
