Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo shocked their fans and the world when they announced their separation and divorce in June last year. It was even more shocking because it was the 34-year-old actor who filed for divorce just 20 months after their wedding in October 2017.
The couple’s divorce
The former A-list couple’s divorce case was approved and finalized in July 2019 and the process was quick because they did not request for division of properties plus none of them asks for alimony or compensation from their former spouse. With their arrangement and they mostly agreed to the terms, the approval was handed to them barely a month from the filing date.
This means that Hye Kyo and Joong Ki was able to keep their assets intact. Thus, when they went back to singlehood, their assets have the same amount, or increased a bit due to their projects, as before they tied the knot.
Their former lovenest
When Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo got married, they settled in a home that the former bought for them to live in. The property is located in the upscale neighborhood in Itaewon and as per the reports, the home cost KRW10 billion or around US$11.6 million.
Now, Today Online reported that the actor ordered the tearing down of the home he once shared with Hye Kyo. It was said that Korean media confirmed that the house was demolished and Joong Ki is planning to build a new mansion on it.
The news outlet also published photos of the home being torn down and the notice of construction ongoing on the site. It was said that the building is allowed to have a maximum of two-storey above ground and three levels underground.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are moving on well from their split. The two have also gained projects after their separation with the former doing more acting gigs. The actress seems to have focused on her promotional activities only and dedicated her time in being the brand ambassador for a shoe, a jewelry and skincare companies in and outside of South Korea.
