Song Joong Ki is currently in the midst of filming “Bogota,” and it requires him to travel to Colombia for the scenes. He was supposed to stay in that country for three months, but he and the production staff were forced to return to South Korea in March, just a little over a month after they began the shoot.
The reason for Joong Ki’s unplanned return to Korea was the coronavirus pandemic, so he immediately went into quarantine to protect himself and the people around him. This is also the protocol for those who were traveling abroad, so he abided.
Rumors on “Bogota” filming
Since Song Joong Ki is still unable to go back to filming “Bogota” in Colombia, there are rumors going around that another reason why they can’t resume the shoot is that the movie has an internal problem. To be more specific, it was speculated that the movie couldn’t move forward due to issues with the budget.
As per Soompi, the reports state that the film is failing, and in fact, the producers got rid of many production staff. It was said that the team is left with just the minimum number of workers, so “Bogota” may eventually be canceled in the future.
But it turned out that these rumors are false, and the production team of Song Joong Ki’s movie slammed those who spread the malicious story. They clarified that “Bogota” will push through, and they are hoping that everyone who is part of the filming can go back to Colombia this summer.
"The reports that filming in Korea has fallen through and that the staff has been cut down are not true,” the production team said in an effort to debunk the rumors. "Although filming has been delayed, the situation is beginning to improve in Korea and in some countries overseas, so we currently have plans to resume filming this summer. The project has not fallen through."
The actor’s other movie is set to premiere
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki’s other movie called “Space Sweepers” is already complete and it is set to arrive in theaters this summer. The sci-fi movie is the first in South Korea and predicted to be a big hit.
