Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, set to power upcoming flagship devices, has had its specs sheet leaked, revealing two performance cores clocked at 4.0GHz and an Adreno 830 GPU, promising unmatched processing speed.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Scores Big on Geekbench
For its forthcoming Galaxy S25 series, which will compete with Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of processing speed, Samsung is under scrutiny from the tech world for its possible use of Qualcomm's expensive Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 rather than its own Exynos 2500.
The unknown chipset was previously discovered on Geekbench with a multi-core score of 8840, which would make it the fastest system on a chip (SoC) to date, according to Qualcomm. It would compete with Apple's A series. In anticipation of the official unveiling, WCCFTECH has shared the processor's official specs sheet.
With a single-core score of 2884 and a multi-core score of 8840 points, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset first appeared on Geekbench in the first week of August. However, we can learn more about the processor than just its benchmark score.
We now have a better idea of what to anticipate from Qualcomm's upcoming flagship processor, according to a data sheet that recently leaked the specifications of the chipset.
According to SmartPrix, we have two different versions of the system on a chip (SoC): the regular SM8750 and the performance SM8750P.
The second one is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which has several improvements made to it. Asus, Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, and OnePlus are among the brands whose flagship handsets will be powered by the standard processor.
Though additional flagship models may adopt the powerful chipset in the future, the enhanced performance version will only be available on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Built on 3nm Technology
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipsets will reportedly be constructed using state-of-the-art 3nm technology from TSMC, according to a leaked data sheet. Because the transistors are packed more tightly, the chipset prioritizes efficiency, which improves performance.
The unique Oryon CPU cores from Qualcomm, which were first introduced with Snapdragon X Elite and Plus laptops, are another important component of the chipset.
Qualcomm Spectra ISP Enhances Camera Performance in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
Two high-performance cores clocking in at 4.0GHz and six efficiency cores clocking in at 2.8GHz would round out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. It will have cutting-edge Qualcomm Spectra ISP for better camera performance, a powerful Adreno 830 GPU for graphics processing, and a FastConnect 7900 modem for wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4).
The processor's integration with Qualcomm's Sensing Hub (QSH) would allow it to offer innovative AI capabilities, such as the Low Power Artificial Intelligence (LPAI) subsystem, among others.
Speculation is that the Xiaomi 15 could be the initial device to include the system on chip (SoC). However, its official unveiling is scheduled for October at the Summit 2024.
