News about the return of “Sex and the City” are dominating the headlines again since fans have been asking for its reboot for a long time now. In a new update, it was said the reboot may finally be happening, and it will be released via HBO Max.
As per Page Six, “Sex and the City,” which was very popular in the 90s, will hit the small screen again. However, it will be a limited series comeback and is likely to feature just three of the main original stars since Kim Cattrall has always voiced out her refusal to return as part of the show if it will be rebooted.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s interest in the “SATC” revival
Last year, Sarah Jessica Parker, who also served as a producer when “Sex and the City” was still airing on HBO, told Entertainment Tonight that she is interested in working for few episodes. The 55-year-old actress added that she can’t ignore the call of the fans for their show’s return, and she also wants to see how the characters have changed.
“I’d like to see where all of them are,” she said. “I’m curious, the world has changed ever since the movie, there’s the technology and social media now.”
While the news of the “Sex and the City” reboot have already spread, HBO Max has yet to release an official statement with regards to its plans for the show. There is a prediction that if it will be revived, it could feature the storyline that was supposed to be used in the third movie sequel that never materialized.
Cattrall’s exit from “Sex and the City” is final
Now, as mentioned earlier, Kim Cattrall is not likely to reprise her role as Samantha Jones. She has repeatedly stated that she will never go back to “Sex and the City,” and that’s final.
It can be said that the main reason for her decision was her feud with Sarah Jessica Parker. The co-stars have exchanged heated arguments in the past, and because of this quarrel, the plans for the third movie fizzled out.
“I'm lucky enough to have a choice,” the Daily Mail quoted Kim Cattrall as saying as she stands firm in her decision to leave “SATC” behind. “I wouldn't be any good doing something that I really didn't want to do.”
