‘Scream Queens’ will introduce John Stamos as a series regular in season 2. Fox scheduled the incoming season’s premiere for September 2016 along with other much-anticipated television shows on the network.
According to TV Line, Stamos was cast in the incoming season of 20th Century Fox’s slasher-comedy television series. He is set to play Dr. Brock Holt, the brilliant yet enigmatic head surgeon employed at a hospital where bizarre medical cases are placed under observation.
This will be Stamos’ third collaboration with executive producer Ryan Murphy. The 52-year old guest-starred in Murphy’s other projects including ‘Glee’ and ‘The New Normal’. He is best known for his role as Dr. Tony Gates on NBC’s long-running medical drama series ‘E.R.’
Stamos will join returning cast members namely Emma Roberts as Chanel Oberlin, Jamie Lee Curtis as Cathy Munsch, Lea Michele as Hester Ulrich, Abigail Breslin as Chanel #5, Keke Palmer as Zayday Williams, Glen Powell as Chad Radwell, Billie Lourd as Chanel #3, and Niecy Nash as Denise Hemphill. Additional cast members are yet to be announced.
Season 2 will take place in a hospital setting – a severe contrast from the plush sorority house of Kappa Kappa Tau from the first season. It will follow the sorority girls as they move on with their lives after graduating from the university. The Chanels have been legally released from a mental institute and will be attending medical school.
Murphy officially began production for season 2 on February 2016 with co-creators Brad Falchuck and Ian Brennan. Filming is scheduled to begin on July and will be moved from New Orleans to Los Angeles.
According to Dread Central, Fox scheduled the second season’s premiere for September 20. It joins other Fox lineups including ‘Lucifer’, ‘Gotham’, and ‘The Exorcist’.
‘Scream Queens’ is a black comedy and murder mystery television series following the girls of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority as they are plagued by a serial killer threatening to take them down one by one. The first season received mixed reviews from critics. Despite this, the series earned numerous accolades and nominations including a People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy in 2016.
