“Samurai 8’ chapter 43 was the last episode in the manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto. It is regrettable that it has to end suddenly after it was canceled but the creator has no choice.
Kishimoto’s original plan
Kishimoto had high hopes when he created “Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru.” He wants to replicate the success he had with his “Naruto” manga series that was later adapted to animation and for starters, he thought he could make at least 10 volumes first. From there, he will see if there will be demand for more and he will write more.
"Let's just go with 10 volumes for now,” Anime News Network quoted the “Samurai 8” creator as saying. “I remember saying one time that Naruto would be 15 volumes. It always ends up being longer."
Apparently, he failed to make “Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru” really popular so it only gained some readers that are not enough to keep the manga series going. Since it is falling behind in the listings of manga titles, he made the decision to end it. He thinks it is already time to withdraw as it is not going up the ranking anymore and the number of readers is also dwindling.
The official cancellation
Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga’s publisher made an announcement that “Samurai 8: Tale of Hachimaru” chapter 43 will be the last. Fans commented that it is sad that it has ended but others say that they are happy with the decision. This is because they are expecting a more exciting series to replace it like the “Bleach” and more.
Others commented that perhaps Masashi Kishimoto would be introducing a new one to make up for the low ratings of “Samurai 8.” “Thank you Kishi sensei, you created worldwide phenomenon “Naruto” and you tried and created a new amazing story but it was too good for us to understand your greatness. Thanks for your effort in making ‘Samurai 8,’ one fan wrote on Twitter.
Finally, some fans of Kishimoto expressed their contentment on how he ended “Samurai 9.” He gave Hachi a good ending so the followers of the manga pleasantly accepted the fact that it has come to an end. They believed that the finale was the best way that the author ended the series.
