Information about the color variants and potential new features for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldable devices have been reported recently. They also emerged at a good time as the company hinted at skipping this year to refresh the Galaxy Note series.
Latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 2 leaks
Galaxy Z Flip 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 have been the next phones Samsung is expected to announce this year. While it is still unknown when these are getting launched, more details about possible new features and color variants may have already been revealed.
SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will be launched with several new color options this year, including light violet, green, black, and beige. The report was not explicit if those are going to be the only variants Samsung has planned for the series this year.
It can be recalled that the first clamshell foldable launched last year with black, purple, gold, grey, bronze, and white colorways. It is still unknown, though, what naming scheme Samsung is going to use this year. The same report also mentioned that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 has been assigned the model number SM-F711 and would be offered with 128GB and 256GB storage options.
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung is rumored to ship the foldable smartphone with black and green color options, although the report also implied that other variants could be in the pipeline. Its model number is said to be SM-F926 and “at least” a 256GB storage. Its successor launched in 2020 with 25GB and 512GB storage options and a standard 12GB RAM.
Both Galaxy Z Flip 2 and Galaxy Z Fold are anticipated to ship with Android 11-based One UI 3.5. Due to its anticipated operating system combination, the report does not expect the foldable smartphones to launch until the second half of 2021.
Samsung Galaxy foldable phones could be ample replacements for Galaxy Note
Earlier this week, Samsung suggested that there might not be a Galaxy Note 21 this year, citing the ongoing shortage in parts supply. But the company assured fans of the series that this does not mean the product line has been discontinued, which could mean it is bound to return next year.
At least the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be a good replacement, though, for those looking to upgrade their Galaxy Note phones. It has been rumored as the next Samsung phone to get the S Pen support. But those looking for a less expensive option, the Galaxy S21 Ultra was also launched with the said feature.
