“Outlander” Season 4 is set to expand the relationship of the show’s leading couple. Following the shipwreck caused by a massive storm that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) went through, the couple is reportedly going to settle down in the next installment, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe gave an exclusive interview to Entertainment Tonight and the duo gave a brief description of what’s in store for Jamie and Claire next season. According to Balfe, the reason why the couple is still together despite going through tremendous difficulties is that they’re soulmates. Balfe added that the characters constantly push each other to their limits, which helps them grow to be the better versions of themselves.
Sam Heughan agrees with Caitriona Balfe’s comments, saying that after enduring a lot of hardships, the two will finally find a place they can call home in “Outlander” Season 4. The duo already hinted at this development when they alluded to what fans can expect from the fourth installment.
The hints that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe shared came in the form of five words, one of which was “home.” Indeed, the show will have the couple settle down in the thriving lands of America after the shipwreck threw them to its shores.
In “Outlander” Season 4, Jamie and Claire will have time to further strengthen their love for each other, but this time it’s going to take on a deeper meaning. Caitriona Balfe said during the interview that the couple’s romance will not be the fiery passion that lovers often exhibit during the first months. Instead, it will be a much deeper affection, a love that can only be achieved through time and hardship. Sam Heughan agreed, adding that the couple will finally have time to interact in a domestic environment, a place where they can finally breathe after undergoing so much turbulence in the previous seasons.
