It is currently assumed that the “Rick And Morty” deal between its creators and Adult Swim will go for seven seasons. However, this is only if the episode counts per season stay at 10. If Dan Harmon gets his way for the later seasons and goes for 14 episodes, it might run for a shorter time than that. This will not be the case for “Rick And Morty” Season 4, though, and it would seem that a 2019 premiere is questionable.
As TVSeason&Spoilers reports, “Rick And Morty” co-creator Dan Harmon eventually wants to do 14 episodes per season of the show. However, this can be set aside for seasons following “Rick And Morty” Season 4. As of now, the plan is simply to prove that they can actually pull it off before burdening themselves with such a demanding task.
After all, animating each episode is a monumental undertaking that can take weeks for each one. There is every chance that the seasons following “Rick And Morty” Season 4 could have an even longer gap between them as a result. As it stands, even just this upcoming season’s premiere is already going past the expected 2019 period.
With regards to the actual plot of “Rick And Morty” Season 4, the only point that’s currently known is the return of the Interdimensional Cable. The concept came back in some form or another, several times after that, and fans completely devoured each one with gusto. This is why it makes a lot of sense why the creators would want to bring it back.
For now, it can be safely assumed that Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland would like for “Rick And Morty” Season 4 to premiere in 2019. However, it would be best for fans to simply expect that it will be coming out in early 2020, at best.
