The release of “Rick and Morty” season 4 has been confirmed for some time now. While that should be enough good news, fans are still demanding to know when it is going to premiere. The latest bet is around the summer of 2019.
Series creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, as well as Adult Swim, are still mum about “Rick and Morty” season 4’s release date. Luckily, a recent social media update from animator Eric Bofa Nfon could give fans another reason to speculate on a 2019 premiere schedule.

Nfon is part of Bardel Entertainment, the company in charge of the show’s animation, Inverse reported. And the photo he shared on Twitter about a “casual meeting” for “Rick and Morty” season 4 might allow fans to narrow down the possible release date window.
The same report noted that writers Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe confirmed the storyboards for season 3 were completed and had been passed on to Bardel Entertainment around September 2016. The show then premiered about seven months later in April 2017. If Nfon’s photo means Bardel Entertainment has commenced the animation works for “Rick and Morty” season 4, Inverse suggested that a premiere sometime in August is plausible.

However, it is also important to note that Roiland and Harmon previously implied having at least 70 episodes written for “Rick and Morty” season 4. That is seven times more than what the series had for the first three seasons and it could alter the schedule compared to season 3.
On the other hand, the showrunners can also adopt the format of other animated series “Rick and Morty” season 4 that is practically airing episodes while the work for that latter installments continues. This means an August 2019 premiere is still possible.
Adult Swim has been releasing brief promo videos in the past months without spoiling plot details or providing clues about the “Rick and Morty” season 4 release date. But Mr. Poopybutthole’s post-credits appearance in the season 3 finale has led many to believe that the show could also return around the holidays.
