The reviews for the open world racing simulation by Playground Games are out and it’s official; “Forza Horizon 3” is the best racing game on the PC right now. This metal crunching speed addict’s dream is set in the huge expanse of Australia’s open planes, where players will take control of four-wheeled monsters on a seamless street racing simulation.
In terms of the plot (yes, there is one) “Horizon 3” finds the player as the boss of the Horizon Festival; a group that organizes races all throughout the world. This time, Australia was chosen to hold the event and it’s where players will need to keep on winning races to unlock even bigger races. How does this work out for the game? According to PC World’s review, it works out really well.
With more than 350 models of cars to choose from, a huge open world that players can customize to their hearts’ content, and a smooth blend of realism and arcade racing fun, “Horizon 3” is shaping up to be one of the best racing simulation titles of this generation. The graphics are phenomenal as well, though it can be argued that there are some better-looking racing titles on the PC. Best of all, it would seem that the framerate holds at a steady 60fps for high-end rigs. This is impressive for a video game that runs on consoles and the PC, with this being the first time on the latter.
PC Mag lauds the usual celebration of both brash racing events and pure racing fun by “Horizon 3” that’s parts and parcel of the series as well. Especially innovative is the character creation, where gamers will be given the choice of what their character will look and sound like.
With that said, not everything about the game is perfect, with some pointing out the character’s role as the boss of the Horizon Festival and the always-online feature as potential issues. For the most part, the game has been receiving a ton of praise, which puts its average score at 4 out of 5.
