“Power” season 6 was already confirmed even before the fifth season aired. Starz ordered new episodes as it renewed the series back in March. Needless to say, the viewers are already excited since it gave the chance for the story to go on.
50 Cent's show, which airs on Netflix and Starz, is quickly becoming one of the favorites in the crime drama genre. Fortunately, it is doing well and has good ratings so it earned a go signal to continue.
Starz announced “Power” season 6’s renewal via Instagram. In the post, the network confirmed season 5’s premiere first and wrote that there will be more episodes after that. “The boys are back. Season 5 premieres Sunday, July 1 on @starz AND we’ll be back for a Season 6. #PowerTV,” the post reads.
How Many Seasons to Go?
Showrunner Courtney Kemp shared that the show may not have that many seasons left after “Power” season 6. In one of his interviews, he explained that the series was not written to continue for a long time.
“This show was not designed to go 10 seasons. It was not designed to go 15 seasons,” he told Deadline. “It’s not a crime procedural or a sitcom. It’s a closed-ended story that really begins and, in some way, ends with Ghost.”
Furthermore, 50 Cent, who is also the series’ co-EP, said that they are considering around seven seasons and he is already thankful that they were even able to go this far. "We slated the show to go seven seasons initially because we created it with the success of The Sopranos in mind," he said.
Season 5 Finale - Explained
Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) betrayed Ghost in the end after he shot Angela in the heart. Before the finale concluded, he saw James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Angela Valdes (Lela Loren) in the middle of an intimate moment as they were sharing a kiss. Right then, Tommy was pointing a gun and Angie saw this so she pushed Ghost out of the way and she was shot instead.

The scene did not show that Angie actually died but judging by the looks of it, she took her last breath while in Ghost’s arms. But is she really a goner now?
In another Deadline report, Kemp shared a shocking fact and revealed that Angela did not die in that final scene that aired just a few hours ago. The EP was also asked about 50 Cent’s shocking death as Kanan on the show and he said that he does not regret this decision to get rid of the rapper’s character. In fact, he planned his death for a year.
Plot and Air Date
“Power” season 6 will pick up from where it left off in season 5. Since there were lots of deaths in the previous seasons and even Kanan was killed off, viewers can expect more deaths of the show’s key characters.
As for its premiere, Starz has not yet set a date since filming has to resume first. The fifth season concluded on Sept. 9 but the cast may go back to work after a few weeks of break.
