Niantic has announced the much-awaited “Pokémon GO” holiday events this year and highlights the debut of Vanillite to the mobile game. Vanillite is not the only Ice-type Pokémon that Trainers should expect in the coming weeks.
‘Pokémon GO’ holiday 2020 events start on Dec. 22
Trainers are always looking forward to the seasonal events for the mobile game as they are also a good chance to collect some rare Pokémon. In-game events for the holiday this year will also mark the first time Vanillite is appearing in the wild for “Pokémon GO” players. Those who will be able to catch Vanillite will also have a chance to acquire its evolution forms Vanillish and Vanilluxe.
Once the “Pokémon GO” holiday events start next week, Trainers should keep an eye on other Ice-type characters as well. Joining Vanillite to appear in the wild are Spheal and Snover. Vanillite will also hatch in 5km eggs as well as Seel, Swinub, Smoochum, Snorunt, and Snover.
Some of the above-mentioned Pokémon will also appear in Raids along with Sandshrew, Dewgong, Jynx, Sneasel, Swinub, Walrein, Cubchoo, and Cryogonal. Niantic also teased that there is a chance for a Shiny Jynx to spawn during “Pokémon GO” raids and Mega Abomasnow, with power boost, in Mega Raids.
To increase the chance of coming across Vanillite and Cryogonal, “Pokémon GO” players might also want to consider participating in event-exclusive Field Research activities. These appearances should be expected throughout this year’s holiday event taking place from Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 8 a.m. local time to Thursday, Dec. 31, at 10 p.m. local time.
‘Pokémon GO’ players should look forward to these holiday bonuses
Since the holiday is believed to be a prosperous time, “Pokémon GO” players can expect more rewards for the duration of the seasonal events. Throughout the said dates, players can open up to 45 Gifts and the Item Bag can accommodate 40 Gifts as well.
Double-reward timed events have also been announced for “Pokémon GO” players this holiday starting with a 2x Raid XP from Dec. 22-25. From this point, more events can be anticipated, 2x Catch Candy (Dec. 24-25), 2× Star Piece (Dec. 26-27), 2× Lucky Egg (Dec. 28-29), and 2× Catch Stardust (Dec. 30-31). Trainers should make sure their “Pokémon GO” is updated to the latest version to join the in-game holiday festivities.
