Soon, Google will unveil the rest of its new smartphones lineup for 2020 that is confirmed to include Pixel 4a 5G. The company wanted its appearance and complete specs sheet to remain under wraps before launch, a leaked photo has been making rounds online suggesting an interesting detail regarding its screen size.
Pixel 4a 5G design
A now-deleted photo on Reddit reportedly showed the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 side by side. The device on the right is bigger, which many may have assumed to be the Pixel 5.
However, follow-up reports claim that Pixel 4a 5G will have a bigger screen measuring 6.2 inches while the Pixel 5 will only have a 6-inch display. This does not mean the latter is an inferior device, though.
Android Central reported they “can confirm” the Pixel 5 will sport an OLED panel that features up to 90Hz refresh rate. The other 5G-enabled device, on the other hand, is expected to only have 60Hz display just like its LTE counterpart. The same report added that both devices would not look too different in terms of screen sizes, however, the Pixel 5 has another reported advantage by having thinner bezels.
The design of Pixel 4a 5G, based on the leak, looks identical to the currently available Pixel 4a as well. The photo only shows the back of the unreleased smartphones and it hints at having the fingerprint reader on the back while the boxed area to hold the camera is also present.
Pixel 4a 5G specs
Aside from the more advanced mobile network, Pixel 4a 5G is expected to have other upgrades from the Pixel 4a. For one, the latter has a smaller display that only measures 5.8 inches.
The Pixel 4a 5G is also rumored to sport a much bigger battery with 3,800mAh capacity compared to Pixel 4a’s 3,140 mAh. The boost in the battery (if it tallies) would not be surprising. There have been multiple reports that the 5G network appears to be more power-consuming than LTE.
Another obvious upgrade on the Pixel 4a 5G is its processor. The currently available Pixel 4a is powered by the Snapdragon 730G chip, but the upcoming device will require at least the Snapdragon 765G to make the 5G network happen.
Pixel 4a 5G release date, price
Google has confirmed that Pixel 4a 5G will be priced at least $499. That is $150 more expensive than its LTE sibling, so tech fans are right to expect it to have more upgraded features. It is expected to arrive in stores in the Fall, along with the Pixel 5. But Google has also announced it will only be sold in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia.
