When Erangel 2.0 was announced for “PUBG Mobile,” players thought it would only take a few months before they get the map update. It turns out; the wait will be stretched to a year. That is if Tencent Games includes it in the 0.20.0 patch notes.
‘PUBG Mobile’ v0.20.0 could be the patch that will deliver Erangel 2.0
Before going any further, it is important to note that Tencent has yet to officially announce the release date of Erangel 2.0 for global “PUBG Mobile” players. But there have been clues over the previous weeks suggesting that the map update could be launched about a year since it was announced.
Updates and new features that are being added to the “PUBG Mobile” version for China called “Game for Peace” usually arrive at a later time for the global title. In the case of Erangel 2.0, the map update went live for the said game last month, increasing the chance for it to be released for the rest of the world very soon.
It has been a while since Tencent provided an update on Erangel 2.0 that some “PUBG Mobile” players thought the project has been buried. Luckily, that was not the case as the developers previously said the map update will be released for the global title within the second half of 2020.
Earlier this month, YouTube channel Powerbang Gaming shared a gameplay video showing how Erangel 2.0 performs on “Game for Peace.” It offers a good preview on the visual changes and improvements to expect from the much-awaited map update.
As expected, the map renders and details are far more superior than the original Erangel in “PUBG Mobile.” Details of the terrain are much more defined even before the players jump off the plane at the start of the match. The video also showed Erangel 2.0 will have other updates including a new camouflage pattern on level 3 gears such as the helmet and the backpack.

Generally, Erangel 2.0 should provide a better gameplay experience but note that how vivid the details and how smooth it runs will still depend on other factors such as the specs of a player’s device. If Erangel 2.0 ended up being part of the “PUBG Mobile” 0.20.0 patch notes, the new map should be available in early August since recent updates were released within the first half of the month.
