POSCO International Corp. will start recycling biodegradable plastic as part of its bid to expand its green portfolio.
The company has signed deals with TotalEnergies Corbion, a Netherlands-based bioplastic company, and Esol, a South Korean supplier of polylactic acid (PLA), to collaborate on developing PLA recycling technologies.
In addition to its significant growth, there is an increasing demand for PLA recycling.
POSCO International will be in charge of the partnership's entire planning and management on top of providing financial support, .
To support efforts to create a PLA recycling factory, TotalEnergies Corbion will share its PLA innovations. While this is happening, Esol will provide the PLA waste needed for recycling.
