The first two seasons of the Jason Bateman-led Netflix premiere during the summer of 2017 and 2018. Unfortunately, there will be a shakeup in the schedule delaying the release of “Ozark” season 3.
Netflix has yet to make any official announcements about the release date of “Ozark” season 3. But Bateman might have dropped some substantial clues somehow confirming the delay.
During his previous appearance at the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” in early August, the actor confirmed that he had a week left the second season of his show. Bateman then confirmed that he “will do nothing until, like, March of next year.” Without mentioning “Ozark” season 3, it seemed like the actor just established there will be several months of delay from the show’s typical summertime premiere.
There were reports in 2017 that the filming for “Ozark” season 2 started in October in Georgia until well into February this year and then came out in late August. If the production of “Ozark” season 3 would take relatively the same amount of time as its predecessor season, fans can expect a December 2019 release date, at the very least.
Worse, “Ozark” season 3 might drop in early 2020. But Monsters and Critics speculate a November 2019 premiere may also be possible.
Bateman will reprise his role as Marty Byrde in “Ozark” season 3 — the freelance financial planner turned into an expert money launderer for a major Mexican drug cartel. But his character has greatly developed in the past two years.
For a brief recap, Marty has been tasked to launder millions of cartel drug money. The cartel wanted Marty to wash away $500 million starting with the $50 million they transferred in season 1 episode 9. Marty had already told Ruth (Julia Garner) where this money was stashed only to hear from Wendy (Laura Linney) that their family must not leave the country. And how the $50 million cash will change the dynamics of Marty and Ruth’s relationship is something to look forward to in “Ozark” season 3.
