There is no doubt that every fan is looking forward to “One Punch Man” season 3, no matter what some people are saying about the animation and quality of season 2. The production of next season has yet to be confirmed. But the release of an upcoming “One Punch Man” video game might change the story for 2020.
'One Punch Man' season 3 release date: Will it be announced in 2020?
Before fans worry about the release date of “One Punch Man” season 3, they should be looking at when the next season could be officially announced. From last month through the first quarter of 2020, producers are busy with other “One Punch Man” projects.
Home media copies of season 2 will be released until March next year while the fighting video game “One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows” is going live on Feb. 28, 2020. These events might also be reasons not to expect an announcement of “One Punch Man” season 3 anytime soon.
For the remaining months of 2020, however, anything is possible. Once “One Punch Man” season 3 is confirmed, there might be another round of waiting for the announcement of its release date.
'One Punch Man' season 3 production: Will producers give in to fans’ demands?
People behind the production of the anime series also have other pressing matters to address. The feedback to the animation quality of season 2 is now raising questions about “One Punch Man” season 3.
Season 2 was confirmed in September 2016, but after a year, it was announced that the production was passed on to J.C.Staff along with an entirely new production team led by director Chikara Sakurai instead of Shingo Natsume, who helmed season 1. These changes were not well-received by many fans, and it is safe to say that the criticisms were not changed when season 2 aired last April.
Thousands have signed a Change.org petition for Viz Media to bring back Natsume at the helm for “One Punch Man” season 3. Viewers who share this sentiment would be happy that Natsume confirmed he wanted to continue working on the series. Natsume said, through a translator, at an Anime Fest panel that since he is a freelance director, the decision not to come back for season 2 was not up to him. “I wanted [J.C.Staff] to do way more [for season 2],” Natsume added.
