Manga fans still have to wait a few more days to see what happens next in the brewing attack on Onigashima in “One Piece” chapter 980. However, there is a good chance for Luffy to be the first to meet the newest character in the series named Yamato, who also happens to be Kaido’s son.
‘One Piece’ chapter 980 predictions, spoilers
The Wano arc has introduced plenty of new faces both from the side of the good and bad guys. However, Yamato has to be one of the most interesting new characters. First, he is Kaido’s son, so fans are likely very curious how he looks and if he is as strong as his father. The other thing is that his loyalties and allegiance is still not defined and, hopefully, “One Piece” chapter 980 could provide some answers.
There are very few details about Yamato. Other than his name and that he is Kaido’s son, fans know nothing about him. The events from the latest chapters also suggest that he might not be emotionally close to his father. Kaido literally has to send some of his strongest people to search for him and bring him back to his father’s castle. The Tobi Roppo members have also made comments about how sour their family relations are, so it is going to be interesting how Yamato will be developed as a character from “One Piece” chapter 980 onward.
Reports have it that Yamato’s face would be revealed in “One Piece” chapter 980 as he encounters Luffy. The latter is currently wandering around Onigashima while in disguise, but he is likely to start a fight after being disgusted by people in Onigashima who are wasting food and making fun of those living in dire conditions in Okobore Town.
There is no definite indication yet if the Pirates-Samurai-Mink alliance will find a new ally in Yamato. Perhaps “One Piece” chapter 980 could give more clues on which side he will pick in the imminent war in Wano.

There has been a change in the manga’s release schedules since the COVID-19 situation got worse in Japan. “One Piece” chapter 980, for example, will only be released on May 24 after another week of hiatus.
