“One Piece” chapter 971 is going to be another important installment for the Wano story arc as it is set to cover the public execution of Oden Kozuki. It could also be a good point to end the months-long flashbacks and transition the plot back to the present timeline where Luffy and his allies are continuing Oden’s fight against Kaido.
‘One Piece’ chapter 971 spoilers: Oden’s last act of heroism
The 970th chapter of the manga series did not fall short on the expected fight scenes between Kaido and his Beasts Pirates against Oden and the Nine Red Scabbards. Eiichiro Oda even dedicated an entire page for the moment when Oden gave Kaido his first X-shaped scar. Most importantly, it revealed how the mighty Oden and his retainers were defeated – it was not from a fair fight but by using the Mane Mane no Mi devil fruit.
Now, the last panel of chapter 970, combined with the facts from the present timeline of the series, helps in deducing what could be taking place in “One Piece” chapter 971. The 10 samurai will be executed by being boiled in public – it appears to be a play on Oden’s name, which is also the name for a Japanese soup-based dish.
However, fans know now that all Nine Red Scabbards managed to escape the execution with Lady Toki’s help. It suggests that Oden will perform one last sacrifice and act of heroism to let the Nine Red Scabbards escape in “One Piece” chapter 971.
“One Piece” chapter 971 predictions: What happens to Denjiro?
One of the biggest mysteries in the current arc is the current status of Denjiro. Chapter 970 implied that a traitor already exists in Oden’s ranks even in the past. The non-appearance of Denjiro in the present made the character the top guess as to the spy, but the latest installment showed that Denjiro remained loyal to Oden up to the end, making him an unlikely spy.
With the flashbacks possibly coming to an end in “One Piece” chapter 971, manga readers might finally learn what happened to Denjiro after Lady Toki helped transport them to a different timeline to escape the public execution. Unfortunately, there will be another two-week hiatus as the next chapter will not be released online until Feb. 16
