Ollie Social sets itself apart from existing social platforms by aligning its activities -- a mix of weeknight gatherings and weekend getaways -- with Ollie’s core values of Inclusiveness, Wellness, Sustainability, and Discovery. Partnering with thought leaders, industry innovators, and charitable organizations, the line-up of unique experiences is designed to ignite purposeful conversation, foster creativity, and mobilize a cohesive community in support of a kinder, greener, and healthier world.
Speaking on the decision to launch the platform, Ollie’s CEO and co-founder, Chris Bledsoe commented: "Our coliving residents overwhelmingly favor 'experiences' over 'stuff', and they seek meaning and purpose in those experiences. They want to better themselves and better the world around them." Bledsoe continued, "At the same time, we've been turning away far too many individuals who desire to be part of the coliving movement simply because we don’t have enough beds available. Ollie Social not only gives our residents additional opportunities to engage one another, for the first time it also enables non-residents to join our community."
Ollie Social has selected four charitable organizations to represent each of Ollie’s core values. The platform is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to represent Inclusiveness, Charity Water to represent Wellness, One Tree Planted to represent Sustainability and Donors Choose to represent Discovery. Volunteer activities in support of these charities will be incorporated into the programming line-up, galvanizing the Ollie Social network for maximum social impact. Commenting on the charity incorporation, Bledsoe said, "We're inspired by brands like TOMS and Warby Parker, and we want to see social responsibility extend its reach beyond 'buy-one, give-one' consumerism of shoes and eyewear. With Ollie Social, we're in a unique position to turn the casual 'get-together' into opportunities to 'give together' and 'grow together'. For us, this is the essence of coliving."
Members of Ollie Social gain access to free weeknight events and discounted weekend excursions. Examples of planned events for October include an “Ollie Talk” featuring alumni members from the international travel and work platform Remote Year and a day trip to Upstate New York for apple picking and pumpkin carving. A calendar of upcoming events and additional information can be found online at olliesocial.co.
Beyond New York City, the geographic rollout for Ollie Social will closely track the expansion timeline for Ollie’s new residential markets, including its recently opened Pittsburgh location, Ollie at Baumhaus, thereby leveraging the passion and expertise of local live-in Community Managers.
