The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), a regulatory agency that administers and enforces securities legislation in the Canadian province of Ontario, announced the members for its new Fintech Advisory Committee (FAC).
The members of the committee will advise the staff of OSC on fintech developments as well as the unique challenges that are faced by fintech businesses in the securities sector. FAC members include Joseph Lubin from ConsenSys, Francis Pouliot from Satoshi Portal, Michael Tang from Deloitte, Jason Cassidy from Crypto Consultant, Sue Britton from Fin+Tech Growth Syndicate, among others.
“We had an overwhelming interest in the FAC. These individuals have direct business experience with fintech innovation and in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by firms navigating securities law requirements. Their insight will help us as we apply key learning’s from OSC LaunchPad more broadly to modernize regulation,” Pat Chaukos, Chief of OSC LaunchPad, stated.
The OSC LaunchPad team provides direct support to eligible fintech businesses in terms of navigating the regulatory requirements. Also, it strives to keep regulation on par with the digital innovation.
The members of the Fintech Advisory Committee will serve for a one-year term and will meet quarterly and the committee will be chaired and led by Pat Chaukos.
