Norwegian Cruise Line will auction its first NFT series that includes 6 exclusive NFTs on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 9 am ET.
The first piece starts at $2,500, while the rest starts at $250. These items will be offered on the cruise line's new NFT marketplace next week.
Harry Sommer, president, and CEO of NCL, among the three largest cruise lines in the world, said the NFTs allow them to share the ship’s hull art with the guests.
The designs were created by Manuel Di Rita, or “Peeta”, the Italian artist who designed the hull art on the Norwegian Prima and the Norwegian Viva.
The star of the collection is the “Norwegian Prima Hull Art”. In this sculpture, the designer emphasizes fluid shapes with indistinct beginnings and ends, similar to those found in an ocean. The blue swirls are a stunning representation of water's flowing movement.
"Relative Coordinates" is the collection's following installment. This painting is a re-arrangement of some of the shapes found on the two ships' hull art. It will also be displayed in the three-story Penrose Atrium onboard Norwegian Prima.
Furthermore, 100% of the proceeds from this auction will go to Teach for America. Teach For America is a non-profit organization that seeks for, develops, and supports a network of leaders who fight to improve the lives of children, a cause that NCL is passionate about and is delighted to support.
Katy Perry will perform on the Norwegian Prima's christening cruise, which will depart from Reykjavik, Iceland in August.
