The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) has ordered Nissan Motor Corp., Porsche AG, and their local units Nissan Korea and Porsche Korea to correct falsified information over their diesel cars’ gas emissions.
Nissan Korea was also slapped with a 173 million won fine by the KFTC.
The four entities are alleged to have installed illegal software in their cars that altered the functions of gas emission reduction devices.
While the cars did not meet permissible emission levels, the automakers falsified such facts in signs attached to their cars.
KFTC also fined Audi-Volkswagen Korea and Stellantis Korea a combined 1.06 billion won in September for similar allegations over gas emissions.
