“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 is now officially confirmed to air again on Netflix. This means that the crime drama has been renewed for new episodes and will continue to tell the story about the drug trade in Mexico. Netflix announced the renewal in early December and fans are already excited for its return.
Aside from the viewers, TV drama critics and various media publications were impressed with “Narcos: Mexico” thus the feedback it got really overwhelmed the cast and the whole production team. This amazing result paved the way for the streaming site to order another set of episodes thus the second season is now currently in production.
Yes, it was also confirmed that the cast and crew of “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 are back on the set and began filming already. This swift development is good news to the viewers of the series because early production means that the show will be out in no time.
Like what the title suggests, the show will still be about the drug trade in Mexico and definitely, it will reveal what happens next after DEA agent Kiki Camarena has been taken down by the notorious criminals involved in Félix Gallardo’s (Diego Luna) Guadalajara Cartel. The doomed undercover agent was brutally tortured and killed after being kidnapped by corrupt police officers in broad daylight in Mexico.
Kiki Camarena was the one who found and tipped the Mexican government about the biggest marijuana plantation - the main source of the illegal drugs being distributed for money and operated by the Guadalajara Cartel. Apparently, he placed his life in danger after the ranch was burned down and endangering the multi-million business of the drug lords.
“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 will feature a new DEA agent to take the place of Kiki Camarena. The new person to go after Félix Gallardo has been revealed to be Scoot McNairy, the narrator in season 1. He only revealed himself at the finale and his appearance would surely continue in the second installment.
Also, when “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 returns, just like in the first season, there would be 10 episodes and Netflix is dropping them all at the same time on its scheduled release date. Meanwhile, the upcoming season has no definite air date yet but it is likely to arrive in the second half of 2019.
