The National Basketball Association (NBA) is teaming up with the Cartoon Network and its WarnerMedia sister Turner Sports for a special broadcast that highlights its All-Star Slam Dunk competition.
Teen Titans characters would host the half-hour, commercial-free special and provide a ‘comedic brand of sports analysis’.
The special will be broadcast on Cartoon Network on February 20, less than 24 hours after the original, full-length Slam Dunk airs on TNT.
US sportswear giant Nike will serve as presenting partner of the broadcast.
The Teen Titans have sung waffle songs, eaten burritos, starred in their feature film, watched Space Jam, and would now take part in one of the most iconic sporting events, according to Tricia Melton, Warner Bros. chief marketing officer for kids, young adults, and classics.
The NBA and its broadcast partners have recently been experimenting with various alternative telecasts.
Last April, the NBA collaborated with Marvel Entertainment for a superhero-themed broadcast of a Golden State Warriors versus New Orleans Pelicans game.
