Michelle Obama was being urged by some of the Americans to go back to the White House, but this time, they want her to be the one sitting in the oval office. The call was brought up when the former FLOTUS updated her Instagram on Dec. 24 to greet and thank everyone at the same time.
The call to run for president
Obama saw the calls of her fans who were asking her to run in the next presidential election in the U.S. Express reported that hundreds of people had asked Barack Obama’s wife to consider candidacy in the election next year. It was said that they are hoping she would go against the current POTUS Donald Trump, and this suggestion was supported by active social media users.
In response, Michelle Obama uploaded a picture of a Christmas card and wrote: “Wishing you a holiday season filled with friends, family, and joy. Thanks to so many of you for sharing your hopes and goals with me these past few weeks in the comments and on my Instagram Story.”
She added, “This type of positive and thoughtful engagement from my ‘Becoming family’ is a reminder that there are millions of us out there constantly striving to become more mindful, compassionate, and caring people.”
Michelle Obama ended her message by telling everyone to work together to be better for themselves and each other. Her post gathered many likes, reposts and comments like “Please come back” and "We cried when you left the White House.”
Obama refused to run for the presidential bid
It’s bad news for her supporters because Michelle Obama already said before that there is zero chance that she will run in the election. She explained that there are other ways to serve the country and not just by being the sitting president, so she is not considering the idea. Lastly, she said that she is not really interested in politics and repeatedly said so many times in the past too.
“Just between us, and the readers of this magazine — there’s zero chance,” she said. “There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, but sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.”
