Mick Schumacher, son of recovering Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, continues to impress motorsport fans with his recent Formula 3 performances. However, not everyone is impressed, especially his current rival Dan Ticktum.

The younger Schumacher and Ticktum are dominating the leaderboard of the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship. But after the German racing driver won the first place in all races in Nürburgring and the first two in the Red Bull Ring, he now dominates with a 49-point lead.

Ticktum expressed his disappointment online with the results of the penultimate round held in Austria last weekend. In a now-deleted Instagram post, he described the races in the Red Bull Ring as “not ideal” before going on with remarks supposedly about Michael Schumacher’s son.

“I don’t like pointing fingers at anyone but to be honest, this weekend the pace in the car was not there. Set up mainly, as in the last race when we got the car better, we were pretty quick climbing from 7th to 4th,” Mick Schumacher’s rival wrote. “'Interesting' is how I would describe their pace and I am confident many people in the F3 paddock will agree.”

Other reports spotted Ticktum commenting he was “robbed of a championship” and suggesting that his opponents “may just have a special engine map or something.” The British F3 contender also purportedly said he is “fighting a losing battle as my last name is not Schumacher.”

Looking at the summary of the 2018 F3 European Championship, the younger Schumacher evidently did have an underwhelming start. However, his performances greatly improved after getting his first-ever F3 win at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in July. It was also a meaningful victory for the Schumacher family, noting that Michael Schumacher won his first F1 race in the same venue in 1992.

Mick Schumacher, on the other hand, decided to ignore Dan Ticktum’s online posts, saying he prefers not to listen to comments of such nature. “I wish him good luck that he stays in the title fight,” Schumacher told Speedweek (via Planet F1). “After my win at Spa it was not easy, but we managed to be consistent, especially in qualifying, with good lap times.”

While the younger Schumie continues to gather experience and wins prior to a possible stint in the bigger league, his father Michael Schumacher has not been seen publicly since the 2013 skiing accident. Their family is firm in not letting official updates about his recovery go out to the public. However, some unidentified relatives previously told Paris Match about the seven-time world champion’s daily therapy sessions and nature sightseeing activities.
