It is not new for the most popular people in the world to become subjects of long-running theories. As for Melania Trump and Donald Trump, their marriage has been under the public’s microscope since they moved in to the White House.
While there has not been a solid proof that the couple is considering to get divorced, several factors may have contributed to the relentless public speculations. The topic has also been a subject of many write-ups, including one where law experts shared the possibilities if the Trumps ended their marriage during or after their White House stint.
Melania Trump, Donald Trump prenup: Did they change their agreement after winning the 2016 election?
A prenuptial agreement technically means a contract signed by the couple before getting married. However, Melania Trump married Donald Trump a decade before he got elected as president. That obviously caused a huge change in their lives, so one has to wonder if the first lady thought of renegotiating the terms of their prenup.
In an earlier interview with Town & Country magazine, lawyers Thomas Kretchmar (Chemtob Moss & Forman) and Jacqueline Newman (Berkman Bottger Newman & Rodd) offered interesting possibilities. Kretchmar confirmed, without pertaining to any specific couple, that changing the terms of a prenup within the marriage is technically possible and could include “a revision or refinement of existing rights in light of a change in the spouses’ circumstances.”
Newman, on the other hand, pointed out that it is difficult to change the terms of a prenup in New York where Melania Trump and Donald Trump got married. But the divorce lawyer also implied that it is not entirely impossible. “The only thing that she could possibly try to argue ... is that when she entered into the agreement she didn’t anticipate he would be president,” Newman added.
Melania Trump insists on having a “fine” marriage with Donald Trump
The Trumps’ move to the White House has also invited more attention to the status of their marriage. Donald Trump has allegedly been in intimate relationships with a couple of female personalities shortly after he married Melania Trump that only fueled the divorce rumors. However, when asked about their marriage during an ABC News interview, the first lady insisted, “Yes, we are fine.”
