Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from being senior members of the royal family and declared that they would like to live independently. The shocking announcement came in January just a day after their return to the U.K. following their holiday break last year.
Moving to Africa?
At that time, the Sussex couple and their son Archie Harrison stayed in Canada and they also went back there after their declaration that stunned the world. Now, months before the couple said that they will quit, Woman’s Day magazine reported that Harry and Meghan were planning to move and live in Africa.
It was further reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to leave the royal family because of their rift with Prince William and Kate Middleton. It was added that the two feel that they are being neglected by the “Firm” especially when they were being harassed by the media so they just decided to remove themselves from the palace.
The truth
It turned out that the report is false and Prince Harry even clarified this rumor already. He denied the reports that he and his family are moving to Africa through an exclusive interview for the iTV documentary.
He was asked if he would be considering Africa as their home base and although he said that the country is amazing, he did not say that they would like to live there. Apparently, the magazine twisted his words and rephrased them to make it appear that he and Meghan are moving in Cape Town.
Moreover, The Sun reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to buy their own home in Vancouver, Canada. At this time, they are just renting out a mansion and after living there for a while, they have found a home that they would like to purchase.
Based on the report, they are eyeing a 6,900-square feet mansion that has six bedrooms, five bathrooms and wide panoramic windows. The property by the beachside is said to worth around £21 million.
Since they want a property in Canada, it is clear that this is the country that they want to stay in and raise Archie. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to officially step down from their royal duties on March 31.
