McDonald’s Japan will be introducing new food items this week but apparently, this will only be available in the land of the rising sun. This is because, although the fast-food chain is a global brand and has locations around the world, the menu being offered in countries are different since natives have different tastes as well.
With that said, Teriyaki burgers are common in Japan and as per Japan Today, McDonald’s is launching new sandwiches with this flavor. This flavor is what makes McDonald’s Japan unique from other branches in the world as the teriyaki sauce originated in the region.
The new McDonald’s sandwiches
Designed to appeal to the local tastes, McDonald’s Japan will debut the Teriyaki Muffin and it will be available for ¥290. This is made of a sausage patty dressed in teriyaki sauce and sandwiched in toasted muffins. This is meant to be part of the breakfast menu so it will only be sold until 10:30 a.m.
This may be similar to McDonald’s Japan’s teriyaki burger but the difference is the patty and the bun. The original teriyaki sandwich has a patty made of pork and regular burger buns are used. This was first added to the menu list in 1989 and has been a regular fix since then.
Next, for ¥390, customers can try another new item at McDonald’s Japan, and this food is called the Oyako Teriyaki. It is a bowl with chicken and egg which are ingredients in oyakodon, and of course, there is teriyaki sauce, a touch of ginger, mayonnaise and a dash of lemon. It can also be bought in a set with drinks and sides for ¥640.
A never-before-introduced Shaka Shaka Potato Teriyaki McBurger is also coming for ¥180 for a small serving and ¥390 for a regular size. This is only served as breakfast as well.
Spicy burger sandwiches
Next up is the Akakara Teriyaki and it is a spicy burger. This is actually the original Teriyaki McBurger but comes with spicy cheese and red chili powder. To make it even hotter, a spicy mayo sauce is also added.
Finally, McDonald’s Japan customers can also enjoy the Kurokosho Teriyaki or Black Pepper Teriyaki sandwich. This is also based on the original Teriyaki burger but comes with smoky bacon, garlic-infused mayo sauce and spicy black pepper.
Based on McDonald’s Japan tweet, all of these new items are coming on May 26. Customers should grab them fast as they will only be available for a limited time.
