McDonald’s Japan is rolling out its Kissa Mac lineup, consisting of a custard pudding pie, jelly parfait, and a cream soda, all originating from the kissaten of the Showa era.
All three are based on treats that have now become mainstays in Japan’s sweets scene.
First up is the Kissaten Purin Pie, priced at 160 yen, has pudding inside the crispy pie crust accompanied by a slightly bitter caramel sauce.
Then there’s the Kissaten Coffee Jelly Parfait, which costs 380 yen , made of coffee-flavored gelatin, coffee sauce, sweet condensed milk, a swirl of whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and corn flakes.
The final member of the lineup is the Kissaten Cream Soda, dols at 320 yen, an ice cream float with verdant melon soda, which rose to popularity during the Showa era.
