Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama reportedly canceled her engagement to Rory Farquharson. She has been dating the guy, a co-student in Harvard, for about two years now and it was claimed that their engagement is off.
The alleged engagement
As per the Globe magazine, Malia broke off her engagement to her Harvard student boyfriend, Rory. The two supposedly got secretly engaged late last year. In November 2019, Globe wrote that Malia secretly got engaged to her boyfriend and it happened over the summer.
“Malia told friends they got engaged over the summer,” the source told the magazine. “She’s excited. She has the ring, but she’s too scared to wear it in public.”
It was added that Barack Obama and his wife Michelle would surely be astounded to know that their daughter is already engaged for months. What’s more, based on the report, the two young students are said to be planning to hold their wedding ceremony this year, after graduation. The two reportedly want a royal-like wedding which means it will be a big celebration.

Barack and Michelle Obama are really upset because their daughter kept them in the dark when it is something that they should be the first to know. Apparently, her friends were the first ones to learn about her engagement. “She’s confided to classmates they’re going to have a big wedding in Britain, like Prince Harry and his American wife, Meghan,” the source added.
The former first couple is also frustrated because of their 21-year-old’s partying and being wild when out to have a good time. And now, this engagement is Malia’s worst “mistake” that would surely upset her parents without question.
